Eric Johnson has fifteen years of experience implementing development assistance and policy advocacy projects—principally in the field of good governance and with a particular emphasis on strengthening independent media—in more than two dozen countries in Eurasia, Asia, and Africa. He has conducted research and pre-project assessments, written or overseen the submission of dozens of successful grant proposals to donors as diverse as USAID, EuropeAid, the UK’s DFID, the Carnegie Foundation, and OSI, managed multimillion-dollar multi-year projects spread across a number of countries with over 100 staff, and conducted independent evaluations of other donors’ projects.

In addition to his extensive project experience, Eric is intimately familiar with the intensive use of information and communication technologies in both developed and developing countries. He speaks fluent English, Russian, some French, and rudimentary Mandarin, and holds degrees in government, mathematics, and the Russian language. He is based in Shanghai and is married to an international trade lawyer.
